Brian O'Grady

Greetings and Salutations!  I’m Brian.

Exploring and enjoying other cultures is one of my passions.  I love discovering what makes others tick and I also learn something new about myself on every trip I take.  I have had the good fortune to travel to 6 continents and over 40 countries and I’m still learning.

As a fervent traveler, I’ve made my share of mistakes along the way.  I have definitely learned a lot about traveling and how to do it often without breaking the bank — I hope I can save you from some of my mistakes.

Here’s my quick bio… I grew up in central Montana and spent 12 years in Washington, DC in the political world.  I later spent time as a remodeler and carpenter, relocated to Key West to open Duval Gardens Bed & Breakfast and ultimately ended up living in the Tampa Bay area working for a major bank.

I am now semi-retired, working from home for my company Alternative Ag Investors, which offers the opportunity to purchase managed farmland so you can diversify your portfolio and earn a strong passive income.  I have also toyed with the idea of retiring abroad, which makes me look at every place I visit just a little differently.

What I write about…  My blog posts cover the mechanics of traveling, how to afford it, making the most of credit card programs and loyalty points (check out my special section on The Points Game) and the occasional details of my trips.

In short, I cover how to travel intelligently and get the most of your time and money.  I have a collection of friends who also love traveling and occasionally contribute guest posts on their latest trip or travel discovery.

I’m not an aviation geek and I don’t spend all my time traveling.  I’m just an average guy trying to figure out how to see as much of the world as I can on a limited budget.  If you’re not interested in gaining airline “status” or can’t afford to spend a gazillion dollars traveling, you’re probably a lot like me.

I would be honored to have you join me in this adventure.  Shoot me a question, sign up for my weekly newsletter or add your comments… we’ll all learn together.  Thanks for reading My Travel Traxx!
